Savages win first this fall

1AD2 football

— Salmon River built a 22-6 lead last Friday night, Sept. 4, holding Colton scoreless through the middle quarters. A couple of passing touchdowns made it close in the fourth quarter, but the Savages held on defensively and added a late touchdown for a 28-20 victory in their season opener.

Tucker Boyd, Devin Buys and Canyon Harper each found their way to the end zone by way of short runs, and Boyd broke a 29-yarder for the clinching touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Riley Travis booked 19 tackles.

Up next, the Savages (1-0) have the toughest team they’ll see all season: they play at Prairie at 7 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 11.
