Sept. 15 disaster relief meeting set for Kamiah

— A public information meeting for agriculture producers and landowners affected by the recent fires and drought will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the American Legion Hall, 618 Main Street, in Kamiah.

The meeting, sponsored by University of Idaho Extension Service and Idaho County USDA Service Center, will focus on programs available to offset livestock and pasture losses due to fire or drought, replacing fences destroyed by fire, and assessing timber damaged or destroyed by fire.

Additionally, information on emergency loans for agriculture producers, conservation technical assistance and cost share programs will be addressed.

Representatives from University of Idaho Extension Service, Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Idaho Department of Lands, US Forest Service, Idaho County Weed Program, Idaho Soil and Water Conservation District, Idaho County Emergency Management, and Volunteer Post Fire Assessment Team will be at the meeting to answer questions and set up on-site visits with producers.

Coffee and refreshments will be provided.
