RCIA Team to meet Sept. 23

COTTONWOOD — RCIA Team is getting ready to start this month. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. as we begin a new year of RCIA! We will be hosting an open house in the back of St. Mary’s Church for all who are interested in joining the church, being confirmed in the church, or who want to attend classes to learn more about our Catholic faith. Come join us for coffee, juice and treats and meet the RCIA team.

This is a great opportunity to explore RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) to see if it is something you or someone you know may want to participate in. We look forward to seeing you. Questions? Contact Charlene Rehder at 962-7324 or

COTTONWOOD — Women on Target, an instructional shooting clinic, was held at the Flying B Ranch in Kamiah. It was sponsored by the Camas Prairie Friends of the NRA. There were 17 women participants and 12 instructors, with two range masters. Yours truly was one of the class members. We had a chance to learn about different caliber pistols and rifles and how to use them. It was very educational and the fact that it was a one-on-one was very beneficial because they could identify what each one needed to learn. We even got to shoot a muzzleloader. Morgan Drew, chief of police for Grangeville, did a very good job heading up the event, as did all the Fish and Game instructors. Several members of the Camas Prairie FNRA also assisted as instructors.

Pinochle will be starting up again in the Cottonwood area. If you are interested in playing pinochle it is time to sign up. Call JoAnn McHugh at 962-3846 by Sept. 15. They welcome new members who want to have fun.
