— Fenn Pond, across from the Fenn Ranger Station is getting a new lease on life, with big equipment rolling in right now and working until May. They are digging, building, planting and then stocking fish – whoop, whoop, how great is that.

Also starting some salvage logging, and work on roads, it’s springtime upriver!

I dropped the ball on the news the last couple weeks because my personal life is more like a Whirling Dervisher (that’s like the guy on “Raiders of the Lost Ark” with the two swords whirling with both hands). In the sense that my husband, Mike, had a knee replacement with a new robotic device, the river came up enough for the rafting season to start, and the big news, after 40 years in the Smith family, Three Rivers Resort is for sale. We will all still be residents of Lowell, we have houses and acres above the resort where we will retire to and continue to enjoy all we love here along the river.

Three Rivers Rafting will continue to enjoy taking rafters on trips down the Lochsa, Upper Selway here in Lowell at the confluence, as well as Salmon River trips to the west of us, with the rafting staying just the same. Marty and Dani Smith have a busy season and it’s already starting with guide trips right here this merry month of April!

Wilderness Burgers in Lowell, it’s exciting to report our only cafe in Lowell is open for the season, every day all spring, summer and fall!

Down at Syringa, spring has sprung there, too. We see activity at Jacksons, lots of building going on as always and a carport bridge that is almost finished. The ROW River Dance Lodge is gearing up for opening as well, and a new house right behind it is getting bigger — a beautiful little community right at the bend of the river.

Sure enjoyed many positive comments last month about Free Press news. In the Forsmann Accounting office two sisters waiting for Ken, in the hospital waiting room a volunteer formerly from Kamiah, in Costco Drug, Kamiah Drug store, in x-ray at Tri-State, all making nice feedback. Thank you for your comments; I’ll try to turn the news back to real upriver stuff, as soon as I retire from the resort business.

Oh, gotta go, Miss Ruthie just turned on Channel 72, “How to Get a Flat Belly in less than 70 Days.”
