244’s Nolan resigns as trustee

Sally Nolan

— Mountain View School District 244’s Zone 5 is in search of a new trustee.

“I sold my home and was ready to move to McCall when my sons said, ‘No!’” said zone 5 representative Sally Nolan of Mt. Idaho. They said I needed to move to where one of them lived. Well, Montana was expensive and Hawaii was expensive, but hey, Hawaii has beaches and water.”

The board accepted Nolan’s resignation – effective immediately — at the Monday, April 18, regular board meeting.

“What? I thought you were kidding at first,” said Casey Smith of Clearwater, zone 4 trustee. “That’s really too bad – I always thought you and I were the only sensible ones on this board.”

“Well, I don’t know how that fares for the rest of the board, but I think that was a compliment for me, so thanks?” Nolan questioned.

Board chair Lot Smith thanked Nolan for her service and desire to make the district the best possible for its students.

Nolan is a retired Grangeville Elementary Middle School teacher who was elected to the board in 2013 to represent zone 5 which encompasses parts of Mt. Idaho, Harpster and Grangeville.

The board will now appoint a trustee to serve the remainder of Nolan’s term. This person must reside in zone 5 (contact MVSD 244 office for a map) and express written interest to the school district superintendent/board. The board has 90 days from the date of Nolan’s resignation to make an appointment.

Letters of interest can be sent to: Superintendent Kent Stokes, MVSD 244, 714 Jefferson St., Grangeville, ID 83530; 983-0990;
