ELK CITY — The Reach Club is sponsoring Enrichment Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Since Friday, March 25, after-school and preschool teacher Nichele Slover opens the doors of the school to local children for this newest REACH program. Sue Phillips writes that, “Since there is usually no school on Fridays, it offers the opportunity for a longer time to spend on more involved activities…and taps local community members with skills, hobbies, or talents to share. A snack is also provided to participants. The Friday classes have been or will be teaching sign language skills, basic art principles, quilting, or how to play chess; or national programs, such as bread-in-a-bag. These will be offered until school is out June 9, but the last enrichment class will be on June 3.” If you are interested or have questions, contact Nichele Slover at the school, 842-2218, REACH Club extension.

Dixie will be honoring our service men and women with the community on May 29 at 10:30 a.m. The memorial service will also include the names of Dixie residents who have passed away since last Memorial Day. The service will be followed by a potluck.

House on the Elk City Wagon Road; Jack Hyde who worked at the Gnome Mine died in 1933 but there is no record of his birth date.
