— GRANGEVILLE — Seventeen Idaho County high school students have completed the 2016 Idaho County Sheriff’s Office Cadet program.

Each year students from Grangeville, Cottonwood, Riggins, Kooskia and Kamiah high schools are invited to participate in the program.

The cadets learn various facets of law enforcement including firearms training, evidence collection and fingerprinting, they roll play deputies in arrest scenarios, ride along with deputies as well as learn dispatch and jailer duties.

“This was a great group of kids and we are pleased to have been part of their education,” said Sheriff Doug Giddings.
