Lowell / Syringa News: Guides are trained

Marie Smith Lowell, Syringa 926-4430

— Short and sweet upriver news. People are moving in and out around here. Campers going up Selway, lots and lots of them. D of L doing slash burns up the Selway River in the rain, smoke starting all over again.

All the rafting permit holders on the Lochsa are training their guides for the season, the river came up to six-and-one-half feet at the Lowell Bridge on Saturday, but with the temperature dropping it’s now less than six feet.

The summer season is off and running, but the little students still have about a month to go. Miss Maddie Smith always has a smile. Here she is getting off the bus with the help of driver Roseanne Graham and copilot Nancy Brandt.
