Kooskia Days set this weekend, Aug. 5-7

— The 63rd annual Kooskia Days Celebration is set for this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5-7.

Friday, Aug. 5

Beginning at 5 a.m. vendors can set up on Main Street and at Kooskia City Park; no vendor fee.

Awana racer construction will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park. Call Ron Harris at 926-4517.

A sale by Born Again Clothing Consignment is set for Western Motor Inn on Main Street, 3 to 7 p.m., with all proceeds going to Clearwater Valley track.

Saturday, Aug. 6

Vendors can set up again at 5 a.m. All day long, 50-50 raffle tickets will be sold, Bingo and Chicken Poop Bingo will take place at the VFW and Western Motor Inn, respectively. Proceeds to help CV students/track.

The Rebekahs all-you-can-eat breakfast will run from 7 to 11 a.m. at the IOOF Hall on Main Street and the fun run will start with 7 a.m. registration at Umpqua Bank. Call Ty Pfefferkorn at 935-5661 or e-mail Proceeds go toward the 22nd annual CAMO Scholarship.

Three-on-three basketball registration begins at 8 a.m. at Clearwater Valley Elementary School with funds raised going toward kids basketball programs. Call Allen Reuben at 553-5789.

Awana cars will be constructed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park, with the Grand Prix Derby set for Kooskia City Hall at 3 p.m., sponsored by Valley Bible Church.

Born Again will again be selling clothing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. and a kiddle carnival will run at Kooskia City Park starting at 10 a.m.

Parade lineup is 9 a.m., judging at 9:46 a.m., at CVES. Preregister by calling Umpqua Bank at 926-4236. The main parade, featuring grand marshal Norma Brandt, is set for 11 a.m.

The Show and Shine registration with a $10 fee starts at 11 a.m. and will be held at the park with awards at 2:30 p.m. Call Travis at 790-5054.

The Tahoe Quick Response Unit will host an auction at the park at noon; call 935-5901, and the hot dog eating contest will be held at Western Motor Inn at noon; call 926-4109 to RSVP. The FFA duck race is set for the park at 1 p.m. with ducks available for $1 each.

A variety show will be held at The Outpost on Main Street from 2 to 5 p.m. with a $5 cover charge and drinks and snacks available for purchase.

The Crawford Graham Band will perform downtown from 8 p.m. to midnight, sponsored by Freedom Northwest Credit Union. In addition, the Kooskia Chamber will offer a beer garden on Main Street from 8 p.m. to midnight, proceeds going to the CV wrestling program.

Sunday, Aug. 7

Volunteers are sought for cleanup at 5:30 a.m. Bring gloves.

Life Center will host a church service at the park at 10 a.m.
