Riggins News: Bingo! Play this Friday night, Aug. 5

— The Salmon River Senior Citizens Bingo Night is this Friday, Aug. 5, 6:30 p.m., at the Riggins Community Center. Bingo is open to the general public; you do not have to be a senior citizen to play…just 18 or older. Cash prizes will be awarded. Refreshments are free. There will also be some desserts/baked goods for sale. Bingo donations go to raise funds for the Salmon River Transit Bus, which can even be used by those who are not senior citizens.

A memorial service for Steve Woodley will be held tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 4, at 3 p.m., at Summervilles/Salmon River Inn. Family and friends are invited. There will be a potluck dinner following the service; please bring your favorite.

Riggins Red Cross Summer Blood Drive will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2-7 p.m., and Wednesday, Aug. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Salmon River Community church. Contact Kris 628-3572 or Joy 628-3224 to make your appointment. Be a Hero! Give blood to help others.

Riggins Pine Tree Community Credit Union will celebrate its 60th Anniversary and Barbecue Member Appreciation Day this Friday, Aug. 5, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will be serving hot dogs, chips, soda, cake, and more…and enter your chance to win $50 Visa Gift Card.

Yoga Retreats are being offered with Yoga in the Body by Elizabeth at the Ram House Lodge up the Big Salmon River this summer. She has one more planned retreat Aug. 28-31; however, she has openings for private retreats as well. Contact 315-0820.

It’s just about time for the Idaho County Fair to be held in Cottonwood Wednesday-Saturday Aug. 17-20. Check out the fair premium book for entry information. Pick one up at the Idaho County Extension Office or the Idaho County Free Press. Also look for the upcoming fair special section in the paper.

The second annual Riggins Salmon Run, Saturday, Sept. 10, will be here before we know it. The Riggins Salmon Run which is a family event offering multiple distance runs is a “foot race along the beautiful Salmon River located in Riggins, Idaho” which includes a Fun Run for children of ages 3-6., a half marathon, a 10K, and a 5K. Runners will compete on an in and out course receiving special tokens at the turn-around aid station. The finish line for all runners will be at the Riggins City Park where runners and their families and others can enjoy live music, food, and drinks. Finisher prizes will be awarded for each distance as well as men’s and women’s first prize awards, 5K-$20, 10K- $30, and 13.1 -$40. Register today at www.raceentryawards.

Listen closely and you may hear the school bells tuning up for 2016-17…Get in all those last summer activities while you can! Hummmm, must be about a month left for fun in the sun before fun in school begins.
