GRANGEVILLE Six Grangeville firefighters were recently recognized at a department function.
Keith Laufenberg, Ron Funke, Danny Tackett, Brian Perry, Nick Hilbert and Rob Beeson were honored at the July 22 Grangeville Volunteer Fire Department’s Wives Appreciation Dinner. Those recognized, except for Perry, have retired from the department.
Each man was recognized for his specialized contributions to the department, according to Fire Chief Bob Mager, by the following:
Laufenberg – “a hard worker who will tear down absolutely everything by hand to get to a fire;” Funke – “a solid fireman; will be there every time, no matter what the weather;” Tackett – “a fireman for 30 years and my chief for 16 years; a really good fireman;” Perry – “really good at this; understands tactics;” Hilbert – “knows how to cut a wall down, bust through walls, with a chain saw, from the inside;” Beeson – “a really good fireman, was always there, did absolutely anything you needed him to do, and he was a really good engineer.”
