KAMIAH The Kubs led by two touchdowns in a flash last Friday night, Aug. 26, but as quickly as Salmon River fell behind, the Savages surged ahead on the way to a 40-14 win on opening night.
Kamiah tallied twice in short order, snapping off touchdowns by way of two big plays during the first quarter: a 25-yard run by Tanner Christopherson and a 33-yard pass play from Kaleb Oatman to Luke Snyder.
The Savages more than reversed the deficit during the second quarter, with Jordan Parham tallying twice on passes from Tucker Boyd. After each of their first two scores, the Savages added a two-point conversion pass from Boyd to Gabe Gonzalez.
The second conversion put Salmon River ahead to stay, as the SRHS defense did not yield another point and the SRHS offense scored four more. Canyon Harper tallied a 26-yard run, Clayton Shepherd caught a 22-yard pass from Devan Branstetter, Parham caught a 41-yarder from Branstetter and Gonzalez ran one in from a yard out.
