— Recent changes in a Cottonwood business mainstay are obvious as you drive west along Main Street. Nuxoll Shell Service, owned by Don Nuxoll, was sold to Ryan Uhlenkott, and The Tire Guy opened Nov. 1.

Uhlenkott, owner of the Tire Guy, said aside from being a gas station selling tires, The Tire Guy will offer full auto repair and care. This includes work on engines and other work under the hood.

Aside from new ownership, a new name and signage, not much else will vary. Uhlenkott said he has hired a couple of new employees and retained the former staff.

“I’m trying not to change a whole lot,” he said. “We will up-end customer service a little bit. We want to get you taken care of and make you happy at the end of the day.”

The Tire Guy now employees five individuals. Rick Workman manages the tire side of the business and Scott Ackerman manages the mechanics end. Ackerman said he has worked at this site for nine years.

Ackerman said the only change he sees in the business is a stronger emphasis on quality customer service. Ackerman said there is no implication the service was lacking under previous ownership, rather a commitment shared by everyone on staff is to provide exceptional service for the client.

Another change customers may notice is an emphasis on services The Tire Guy provides. Workman said staff wants the community to know they do offer wheel alignments and service brakes, shocks and mufflers.

“We offer the same great prices,” Workman said.

The Tire Guy is located at 501 Main Street in Cottonwood and can be reached at 962-3241. Nuxoll Shell Service opened in 1914. Nuxoll purchased the business from his parents in 1980.

Uhlenkott currently is president and owner of Advanced Welding & Steel, Inc., in Grangeville. He and his wife Heather, along with their children, are residents of Cottonwood.
