White Bird News: Christmas parade set for this Saturday

Toni Baker 983-7701

— We have snow in our little town and as one resident was heard saying, “we have to all learn how to use a snow shovel again.” It is becoming wintery out there, so take the time to watch out for others, slow down a bit, and give yourselves extra time if you have to travel somewhere.

We all appreciate all the hard work of the Doumecq, Deer Creek and White Bird Highway Districts in their efforts in keeping us safe, seeing that we can get around in this snow. These guys do a great job and are out and about early every morning. So, if you see them, say “thank you” or give them a hug for their kindness.

On the 12th the White Bird Park & Rec met at 7 p.m. For upcoming meetings, the city council will be meeting on the 14th at 5 p.m. Remember, the library is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays each week. They still have 2017 Community Calendars for sale and they are really interesting.

Got a call from Barb Lowe and she would like to remind residents that this Thursday (15th) to have your lights turned on if you would like to have them judged for the lighting contest. The judges will be out and about looking at all the decorations and will announce the winners on Saturday at the Lighted Christmas Parade. Speaking of that, I hope everyone has thought about your entry and signed up with Carrie. There is still time so contact her at 839-2500 or 507-2120. Saturday evening is the place to be (downtown) with the parade (lineup is at 5 p.m., and starts at 6 p.m.), goodies at the park, winners being announced, singing (don’t forget your instrument) and join in the good ‘ole White Bird music fest, and of course we can’t forget…Santa will be handing out gifts to the children. Dress warm and bring your lawn chairs.
