— Christmas time again and another opportunity to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that you will have a blessed time of it.

The school Christmas program was so much fun to watch. Even though there are a lot fewer children in Elk City, the kids, teachers, and helpers did a great job. There was even a visit by Santa (surprise!) who held each kid on his lap and handed them each a present. Then there was a group photo. You know how hard it is to get a bunch of kids to stand still for photos … but here it is.

Children pictured in photo are (not in any particular order): Kaiden and Keagen Slover, Marshal and Derrick Chlebowski, Samuel Hickman, Beverly Farmer, Jessica Boyd, Natalee LaMar, Damon and Devin Pattan, Trevor Foster, William and Eva Stibal, Nora, Logan, Colt, Savanna.

Don’t forget the Christmas celebration schedule at the Baptist Church: The annual open house is from 4 to 6 p.m., on Friday the 23rd; candlelight service at 6 p.m., on Saturday the 24th; Christmas Day service is on Sunday the 25th at 10 a.m. Everyone in town is invited.

A reminder to those who know and an introduction to those who may not know: Elk City does have a historical society and museum. The Idaho Gold Fields Historical Society is under the umbrella of the Elk City Area Alliance. The museum, which contains artifacts as well as hundreds of photos of the area between 1898 and the 1960s, is located at the Elk City Hotel and Gift Shop. We are hoping to raise enough money to build our own museum someday. If you have artifacts that you would like to donate, or loan for display, to the museum, just come on by or call Jamie at 842-2452.
