County enforcement last week netted two individuals on felony drug arrests, including a Washington State woman allegedly in possession of thousands of dollars in cash, prescription medications and controlled substances.

Preliminary hearing is this Friday, Dec. 23, for Marissa Y. Rowland, 33, of Spokane, charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance, and drug trafficking in heroin, all felonies.

According to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) release, charges resulted during a Dec. 12 routine patrol by ICSO Deputy Kevin Brown, who stopped to check on an unmoving 2000 Dodge Durango on Twin House Road at U.S. Highway 95 south of Cottonwood.

While checking on the welfare of the occupants, the driver, Rowland, appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. Upon request, Rowland turned over a piece of paraphernalia that Deputy Brown had observed in the vehicle, after which she and a male passenger exited the car and it was searched for additional illegal substances.

Brown reportedly recovered from Rowland’s vehicle cocaine (6.4g), heroin (8.1g), methamphetamine (3.1g), prescription medications in pill and powder form – Clonazepam, Methylphenidate, Buprenorphine Hydrochloride, Alprazolam, Carisprodol, Methadone, Oxycodone, Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine – and Fentanyl Transdermal System patches, along with multiple items of paraphernalia and packaging equipment. More than $5,000 in cash was also recovered.

The male passenger, 32, of Spokane, was released without charges. Deputy Brown was assisted by Cottonwood City Police Officer Wes Walters.

In an unrelated incident two days later, Dec. 14, Jeremy C. Adkison, 34, of Grangeville, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor charges of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. Adkison is set for a Dec. 23 preliminary hearing on these charges.

A passenger in the vehicle, Adkison was arrested at Kooskia following a traffic stop on Ridgewood Drive by ICSO Deputy Craig Hoodman. The driver, Matthew R. Dewey, 33, of Grangeville, was arrested on a Clearwater County warrant for fail to appear on a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance, and was also cited for driving while suspended.

December has been a busy month for ICSO on drug arrests. Last week, the Free Press reported on two unrelated incidents in Stites and Kooskia investigated by ICSO resulting in four felony methamphetamine possession charges.
