Slick conditions contribute to weekend injury, rollover crashes

Slick conditions over the weekend contributed to several slideoff and rollover crashes, reported to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO).

A non-injury slideoff crash was reported near Kamiah Sunday, Jan. 31, at 8:37 a.m. when a vehicle went off Glenwood Road at milepost five. Minor damage was reported, and the unidentified driver was not injured.

The day prior, Jan. 30, two occupants escaped injury in a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 95, five miles south of Pollock at milepost 183, according to ICSO. The southbound vehicle hit ice, lost control, crossed into the northbound lane, hit the embankment and rolled onto the shoulder. Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

ICSO was assisted on scene by Riggins Ambulance, Big Ed’s Towing and Idaho Transportation Department (ITD).

Earlier that Saturday morning, 2:53 a.m., on U.S. 95 at Cottonwood, a vehicle hit black ice and rolled into the ditch. The unidentified driver was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.

ITD, St. Mary’s Ambulance and Fred’s Body Shop assisted on scene.
