Extreme Adventure Club: Kids invited to free activity programs

— Partners Inspiring Community Health (PICH) will offer a variety of upcoming events for local kids.

“Our mission is to promote health and wellness within the community through various educational events, programs, and presentations,” said Kirstin Jensen with University of Idaho Extension.

“Extreme Adventure Club” will offer lifetime activity events once or twice a month, February through June, to all youth ages 8 to 18. The program is free of charge with two weeks preregistration required. A maximum of 20 participants is available for each event.

The first event is set for Saturday, Feb. 20, and will be a Dance Aerobics class (Zumba, jazz and hip-hop) instructed by Britny Mundt and Heather Newson. This will be held at Groaners Fitness Club, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call 451-5942 or e-mail to register.

Additional club offerings will include the following:

•Feb. 27, Snowshoeing: Drop-off/pickup at Snowhaven parking lot. Bring snowshoes if possible (some will be provided), 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Hot chocolate and granola bars will be provided following the hike. Call 451-5224 or e-mail to register.

•March 26, Bike Safety-Traffic Safety. Free helmets will be given to participants at the Grangeville Elementary Middle School gym, 10 a.m. to noon. Call 451-5942 or e-mail

•April 16, Geocaching – “Looking But Not Lost” with Jo Hardy. Participate in adventure tracking. GPS/Smart Phone with Geocaching App is recommended, but not required, and wear tennis shoes for walking. Drop-off is at the Grangeville Visitor’s Center, pickup is at GEMS, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch provided. Call 983-2667 or e-mail

•May 7, “A Taste of Italy” with JoAnne Smith. The class will focus on Italian-inspired dishes. No prior cooking experience needed. This is set for the Grangeville Senior Citizens Center, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 507-0720 or e-mail

•June 11, Disc Golf and Pizza Party with Kevin Asker. Participants will go over rules of the game and throwing techniques and will play the course at Lions Park, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Call 983-6098 or e-mail
