It’s exciting to report that the mighty Lochsa came up to four feet last week, and by the weekend it was down to two feet, but the boaters came from east and west to get the cobwebs off their equipment and try out the new stuff.
The days of how you look and creating an image is long over. It’s now a matter of being one with the water, the cold, cold water you feel as you enjoy the rapids on the turbulent waters of these great Idaho rivers that surround us, especially here in Lowell at the confluence of the Lochsa, Selway and Middlefork of the Clearwater.
A group of boaters in kayaks, catarafts and rubber rafts rented cabins and got wet this last week, from NRS (Northwest River Supplies) including Jacob and Zack. Had a good couple of days for a photo shoot. Some Three Rivers Rafting guides, including Liam Libby, and several more wannabees were all up as the rivers rise. Big wind/rainstorm hit last Friday evening and we had some downed trees and the wind did some local damage. I am saddened by the loss of several friends and old neighbors the past couple months. We are so connected up here in our sparsely populated world that every loss is one close to our hearts. So now we have sunshine for a few days and how beautiful it is. Whitewater, sun, and thoughts of spring, life is good.
