Along with a host of players out of the state’s bigger schools, Prairie’s Jake Bruner and Grangeville’s Austin Parks both got a bit of national recognition for their defensive play in 2015. That’s by way of the “American Family Insurance ALL-USA state teams” announced Dec. 30. They were chosen “based on their athletic achievements from the 2015-16 season.”
Bruner was named to the first team defense as a defensive back — a group drawing defensive linemen from Highland (Pocatello), Centennial (Boise) and Kuna, linebackers from Madison (Rexburg), Bishop Kelly (Boise) and Rigby, and backs from Rocky Mountain (Meridian), Emmett and North Fremont.
Parks was named to the second team defense, alongside backs from Gooding, Meridian and Pocatello, linebackers from Sandpoint, Fruitland and Aberdeen, and defensive linemen from Vallivue (Caldwell), Nampa Christian, Homedale and Boise.
