White Bird Rec District sets game night, breakfasts

WHITE BIRD — The White Bird Recreation District, which meets at the recreation hall (former White Bird School) has set two monthly activities.

Friday night games will begin Jan. 8, and run 6-9 p.m. Families are invited to take part. Bring a game or play the ones that have been donated. There is no cost. For questions call rec district president Dean or his wife Brenda Heckman at 839-2303.

American Red Cross blood drive to be Jan. 7 in Grangeville

GRANGEVILLE — The next American Red Cross blood drive will be held Thursday, Jan. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Grangeville Armory. Appointments can be made by calling Dana Groom at 983-8571. Walk-ins are welcome after 2 p.m.

Jan. 19 community presentation set on current drug trends

COTTONWOOD — Nationally known speaker Jermaine Galloway will conduct a presentation on current drug trends at a Jan. 19 community event in Cottonwood. The public is invited to attend the presentation, starting at 6 p.m. at the Cottonwood Community Hall, sponsored by the Cottonwood Police Department.

Along with the presentation, dinner will be provided. Organizers ask attendees to contact them so a headcount can be made for dinners. Find out about Galloway online at Call CPD Chief Terry Cochran, 962-3231.

Workshop set for those living with chronic conditions

COTTONWOOD — Community Action Partnership and CHAS Health will co-sponsor a workshop entitled “Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions.”

The next class is set to begin Thursday, Jan. 28 and will run through Thursday, March 3. This will take place at the Monastery of St. Gertrude, 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Thursday. There is no charge for this workshop.

American Legion meeting set for tonight; auxiliary will meet Jan. 9

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville American Legion Post 37 will hold its January meeting tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 7 p.m., at the Idaho National Guard Armory. The upcoming mid-winter conference will be discussed. All community veterans are welcome. Contact Morris Bentley, adjutant, at 983-5535.

The Grangeville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 37 will have the January meeting Saturday, Jan. 9, at Oscar’s Restaurant. This no-host lunch is set for noon with the meeting to start around 12:30 p.m. The upcoming mid-winter conference will be discussed. Contact secretary Pearl Bentley at 983-4417.

Winter dance recital is Jan. 17

GRANGEVILLE – Shirley’s Dance Studio will present its Grangeville winter recital Sunday, Jan. 17, 3 p.m., at Grangeville High School. Dancers should be at the school by 2 p.m. to prepare.

Animal House 4-H Club to meet Jan. 27

GRANGEVILLE – Animal House 4-H Club will meet Wednesday, Jan. 27, 6:30 p.m., at the Grangeville Elementary Middle School (GEMS) community room.
