PUC adopts settlement to Avista case, agrees to implement increases

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is adopting a settlement to the Avista Utilities electric and natural gas rate case that increases electric rates an average 0.6 percent (six-tenths of 1 percent) and natural gas rates by 3.5 percent, effective Jan. 1. 

For a residential customer who uses the company average of 929 kilowatt-hours per month, the increase is about 75 cents per month. For a natural gas customer who uses the company average of 61 therms per month, the increase is about $3.20 per month, counting the $1 per month increase in the basic service charge.

Veteran’s Advocate will be in Grangeville Jan. 12

GRANGEVILLE — The Idaho Division of Veteran Services will have a veteran’s advocate in Grangeville on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Idaho Department of Labor, 305 N. State St., Grangeville.

The advocate will be available to veterans and their dependents between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the purpose of answering questions about veteran benefits, assist with ongoing claims, and take new claims for filing with the Veterans Administration.

Veterans in need of these services should schedule an appointment by calling the Idaho Division of Veteran Services (Lewiston Region) at 750-3690. Walk-ins will only be seen as time allows.
