— Idaho County welcomed its first baby of 2016 at Syringa Hospital Saturday, Jan. 9.

Josh and Shaila Told of Grangeville had their third child, a son, Marshall David, at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016. He weighed six pounds, eight ounces and measured 20-1/2 inches.

“We were really surprised he was the first baby,” smiled Shaila, who went into labor a bit early. A C-section was planned for the following Friday.

Marshall was delivered by Dr. Matthew Told, who is the proud daddy’s cousin.

“This is the first family member he has delivered,” added Josh.

Josh is a fourth-year medical resident who is currently on a rotation in Grangeville. He and his family have lived here six months and he is in the process of applying to various residencies. They are from Utah but most recently lived in Colorado.

Marshall David joins two siblings: brother, Braeden, 4 this month, and sister, Avery, 15 months.

“It has been such a blessing for us to be here in Grangeville and to spend time with Matt and Katie Told,” Shaila said.

Josh and Matt are not only cousins but are also friends, Josh said, who have worked together in years past.

“His father was a small-town family physician and Matt actually worked for my dad in construction and he taught me a lot,” Josh said. “I guess you could say I am following in his footsteps.”

Maternal grandparents and great-grandparents are Brian and Denise Seegmiller of Syracuse, Utah; Dan and Linda Dale of South Jordan, Utah; and Grant and Sharon Seegmiller of Kaysville, Utah.

Paternal grandparents and great-grandparents are David and Belinda Told of Cedar Hill, Utah; Grant and Carol Loader of Pleasant Grove, Utah; and the late William and Moya Told, also of Pleasant Grove.
