— Sweet ’16 is moving quickly. I do hope you are having many memory-making events. I found a great quote by Richard Gere to add to the Sweet ’16 list: “I am old, but I am forever young at heart. Know that you are the perfect age. Each year is special and precious; you can only live it once. Do not regret growing older, it’s a privilege denied to many.”

ASK, After School Kids, Inc., will be hosting two more “Love and Logic” parenting classes free to the public. All materials and light snacks will be provided. These classes are being offered on Thursdays with the second being presented tomorrow, Jan. 21, and the third and final one next week, Jan. 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. Each class covers a different set of topics, so come to all of them! Begin 2016 on a better path to parenting with Love and Logic.

The children of the late, great Ace Barton are putting a memorial bench in the Riggins Cemetery in honor of him and his accomplishments. The bench will be granite and will have etching on the front and back which will feature mountains and the rivers as well as a picture of Ace from a photo taken by Frank Mignerey. The Seven Devil Mountain Range drawn by Bob Boyce who worked on Dry Diggins lookout in the late ‘60s will also be featured as will the silhouette rider, Ace Barton on his mule, Tom, that Nancy Dreher drew of Ace for his USFS retirement party. If anyone is interested in donating towards it, they would greatly appreciate it! This would be a great way to honor him for his contributions to our community. Make donations to the Riggins Cemetery Fund in his name… send to Riggins Cemetery Board, c/o Patty Solberg, P.O. Box 391, Riggins, ID 83549. Thank you so much.
