Two transported after rollover crash

A Grangeville couple received minor injuries following an early Monday morning rollover accident on Lukes Gulch Road.

Cara L. Smith and David L. Smith, both 32, were transported to Syringa Hospital for evaluation.

The accident was reported Jan. 18 at 5:30 a.m., five miles northeast of Grangeville, according to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) report. Cara was driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra eastbound, and due to the fog she could not see an approaching curve. When she did see it, roadway slush made it unable for her to turn and the vehicle’s rear end fishtailed. The Toyota went off the road sideways and rolled one time, coming to rest on its tires.

Of the pair, only Cara was wearing a seat belt. Vision obstruction was listed as the accident cause; no citations were issued.

ICSO Deputy Brad Mundt handled the accident, assisted on scene by Syringa Ambulance. Dale’s Rescue Towing provided wrecker service.
