ST. MARIES — The Grangeville boys booked the same number of shot attempts as their Lumberjack counterparts, but while St. Maries found the range, the Bulldogs shot poorly and lost 51-36.
St. Maries hit 50 percent of its attempts including an 18-for-30 showing inside the arc, while Grangeville hit just 12 of 30 from two-point range and just one of 12 three-point tries.
Patrick Schumacher scored nine points on six shot attempts plus a three-for-three showing at the foul line, and Dillon Alder hit three of his five attempts plus two-for-three on free throws for eight.
The boys will host Coeur d’Alene Charter at 6 p.m. this Friday night, Jan. 29.
Sullivan, Kennedy key rally, but Jacks survive
ST. MARIES — Trailing heavily after a rough second quarter, Grangeville nearly overcame a 16-point deficit, but sharp foul shooting at the end sealed a split for St. Maries. Having played each other within two points a week prior, the second Bulldogs-Lumberjacks showdown again tilted toward the home team, 42-40.
McKenzie Kennedy (12) and Hailey Sullivan (10) led the GHS attack.
The girls will host CDA Charter at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29.
