An image of Idaho’s iconic big dog in Cottonwood is now appearing in parts of America on billboards promoting Toyota’s new RAV4 Hybrid car with the tag line “Go Where No Neighbor Has Gone Before”.
Dennis Sullivan and Frances Conklin of Dog Bark Park were contacted in September by a freelance photographer on assignment for the Toyota company to photograph potential locations to be used in the national RAV4 Hybrid promotion. The photographer, Scott Downing, came from California to shoot photos of Dog Bark Park’s big beagle along with shots of the surrounding area to compete for selection into the campaign. Once the big dog got the nod of approval, Downing returned a few days later hoping for more favorable weather which resulted in the image being used on the billboards.
At this time Dog Bark Park is not revealing the exact locations of the billboards until after the Facebook contest they are running closes on Jan. 28. Conklin hints they are all in the midsection of the country.
“We are excited to be included in such a major national campaign,” said Sullivan. “We’ve always wanted the big dog to be used as a set location for a movie or television commercial. This is something we never imagined and comes close to our goals for the big beagle. Now we might amend our usual Dog Bark Park tagline from ‘being in this doghouse is a good thing,’ to ‘Stay Where No Neighbor Has Stayed Before.’”
