Instead of vilifying, thank legislators for fight to keep us free

Letter to the Editor

Robert G. Schultze made some interesting accusations in his letter of Jan. 20. First, let’s examine the “greedy gun lobby.” I presume he means the NRA, which was established in 1871.

The National Rifle Association was founded to safeguard our liberty in the event of tyrannical government leaders attempting to subvert freedom of the people. Because you have neighbors who have firearms, you can live free and more or less safe from harm by criminals. The NRA has proposed putting armed guards in schools, but Obama won’t hear of it. Instead, he wants to disarm the law-abiding public. This means only criminals will have firearms. How safe will anyone feel if he prevails? Instead of punishing violent criminals, Obama wants to turn them all loose on society. Where is the justice in that? Instead of vilifying our state legislators, you should thank them for fighting to keep you free.

If our rights and freedoms offend you so much, maybe you should go live in a country that has no freedom. Oh, and lest we forget, there are no imposters in Idaho, just those who want to live free
