— My Sweet ’16 quote for the week is “It is not the harvest you reap, but the seeds you plant that make the difference in your life and the lives of others.”

McCall’s always-popular annual Winter Carnival kicks off Friday, Jan. 29. A hefty helping of snow in Idaho’s mountains has made McCall a winter wonderland. The theme for this year’s carnival is “Beyond Tomorrow.” Snow artists from across the West always strive to come up with the most creative sculptures — while sticking to the event’s theme - in an effort to allow visitors from around Idaho and across the country to take in the larger-than-life snow sculptures, breathtaking fireworks shows over Payette Lake and a bevy of family-friendly events around town.

In addition to the quintessential snow sculptures, the event features parades, live music on Friday and Saturday nights, a vendor court, beer garden, crafts fair and a number of other activities in and around McCall. If you can’t make it to McCall for the carnival, you’re not completely out of luck. The Mardi Gras Parade, which takes place at noon on Saturday, Jan. 30, will air live on and at 4 p.m. that same day on KTVB Channel 7. It will also rebroadcast at 8 p.m. on Idaho’s Very Own 24/7. To see complete daily schedule of the Winter Carnival go to Event Guide: 2016 McCall Winter Carnival.
