GRANGEVILLE The royal crowning took place at the Sunday, July 3, rodeo, when the new Border Days queen and princess were crowned.
Current queen Maggie Chmelik crowned the new queen, Rachael Stevens, while outgoing princess Hailey Russell crowned the 2017 princess, Micaela Farris.
Tryouts were held last Tuesday evening, June 28, and all contestants rode in the parades and at the rodeos each night. Also participating were Montana Kirkpatrick of Kooskia and Jillian Hausladen of Grangevile. Kirkpatrick was named Miss Congeniality.
Stevens is the daughter of Fred and Rene Stevens. She is homeschooled. Farris is the daughter of Jeff and Amy Farris. She attends Grangeville High School. Both girls are members of the Triple Bar Drill Team.
The duo will now respresent Grangeville Border Days at a variety of events including, but not limited to, the Lewiston Round-up, Asotin County Fair and Hells Canyon Rodeo, Riggins Rodeo and White Bird Rodeo.
