Friday night accident claims life of Grangeville man

Wesley Shira died at the scene; three juveniles injured

— Idaho State Police is currently investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash Friday night, July 15, south of Cottonwood.

Wesley E. Shira, 34, of Grangeville, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash was reported at 8:54 p.m. on Graves Creek Road near Pine Bar Recreation site, according to ISP. Shira was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition northbound on Graves Creek Road, 13 miles from the intersection of Twin House Road, when he lost control of the vehicle. Shira's vehicle left the roadway on the west side rolling down the embankment approximately 55 feet.

Three male juvenile passengers, all of Grangeville, received minor injuries and were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood. All were wearing seat belts.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Cottonwood Police Department assisted on scene. Fred’s Towing provided wrecker services. Uhlorn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
