Riggins K9 Resort @ Salmon River Kennels is the newest thing in Riggins. Basically Chad and JJ Hopkins saw a need for a dog boarding service in Riggins. Many people travel with their dogs; when they come to town and when they decide to take a river trip or go rafting or jet boating, they need a place for their pet. Their K9 Resort has shaded 12x12 outdoor kennels and indoor kennels as well as a fenced large dog run for puppy play time. And they have added mini swimming pools and beach décor for your dog’s pleasure. You can contact them at 315-1169 to care for your dog anytime whether you go rafting or not.

There is a new store is in town, “RCFM ~ Better Foods” located at: 505 S. Ace’s Place. Riggins. Race Creek Farm Market is opening a store in Riggins where the Hollon family can put it all together: organic, farm, ranch, local, and imported. They will also be featuring a smoothie and juice bar soon…all organic raw fresh fruit. The Hollons just teamed up with a local ranch that provides them with raw pasture fed inspected dairy, farm eggs, and pasture raised beef. They are also working with a locally owned nursery and orchard that is providing them with sustainably grown micro greens, vegetables, and potted plants…soon to have fruit. Stop by and check it out!

Reading program to begin

RIGGINS — “On your Mark, Get Set, READ 2016” is the theme this year for the Salmon River Public Library’s Summer Library Reading Program featuring a beach setting. The Summer Reading Program will be held for children 1- 8 years old beginning, Tuesday June 28, and each Tuesday through July 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 1 p.m. Be a reading champion this summer; attend the reading program. Miss Susan reads stories, does crafts, has treats, and gives books to the kiddos who attend. Be sure to check out the display case filled with shells, beach toys, and children’s books at the Riggins City Hall. It goes right along with the 2016 Summer Reading Program. Kudos to Jeannie Fitch for creating this “kid-friendly”display.

Just a reminder that the Riggins Ambulance is collecting aluminum cans for needed funding. There is a “can pen” behind the Riggins City Hall where you can toss your bags of aluminum cans for the cause.

Carri Ann Whiteman Durham was “home” in Riggins just for the day to speak at the Salmon River Community Church about her time in Thailand. She had lunch with Buck and Jeannie Fitch and was able to visit with several friends who came by just to see her. She will be in the States until end of June as she will be attending her nephew’s wedding.

Celebration of life for Katie Knight, who died Wednesday May 25, 2016 at her home in Riggins, will be held Sunday June 26, 2016, 2 p.m., at the Salmon River Community Church.

VBS, vacation Bible school, at the Salmon River Community Church will be held Monday-Friday July 18-22 for ages 3-12. VBS is open to all local kiddos as well as visiting cousins and friends.
