WINCHESTER The 24th annual Winchester Rodeo is set for July 2-3, Saturday and Sunday, in conjunction with the annual Winchester Days celebration.
Events include barrel racing, bull riding, breakaway roping, mutton bustin’, steer riding, calf riding, team roping, calf roping, saddle bronc and bareback riding, chute doggin’, ranch bronc riding, and, new this year, women’s steer stopping.
Register for events at the rodeos, which start at 2 p.m. both days, at the Winchester Arena in the Pines. Sunday slack rodeo starts at 10 a.m.
The indoor arena will feature on Friday, July 1, music by Beargrass and dinner at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, July 2, dinner and dance to Marcos Dominquez at 8 p.m.
Saturday, July 2, the arena will be dedicated in honor of its founder, Floyd Welborn. Also to be recognized will be Crissy Hendren and Dustin Stamper.
Sunday features a cowboy breakfast at 7 a.m. Also this day is “Tough Enough to Wear Pink.”
Grand marshals for the Winchester Open Rodeo are Sandy and Lee Ford.
