Jeannie Fitch 628-3845

— My sweet 16 quote for the week is “A toddler can do more in one unsupervised minute than most people can do all day.” (I get to be with my 2-year-old-toddler and 6 ½ year old this week. I will be alert at all times.)

The Salmon River Public Library’s Summer Library Reading Program “On your Mark, Get Set, READ 2016” started last Tuesday and made a big splash! The Summer Reading Program featuring a beach setting will be held for children 1- 8 years old and will run through July 26, at 1 p.m. Miss Susan reads stories, does crafts, has treats, and gives books to the kiddos who attend. The display case at the Riggins City Hall created by Jeannie Fitch that is filled with shells, beach toys, and children’s books was met with smiles and grins from the kiddos.

Get ready for vacation Bible school at the Salmon River Community Church which will be held Monday-Friday July 18-22 for ages 3-12. VBS is open to all local kiddos as well as visiting cousins and friends. The Texas Team will be here to lead the activities of the week with help from our own youth group.

Our very own Alita Arendell was recognized by Oregon Senator Merkley for her commitment to her Baker Oregon community. Alita is the daughter of the late Frankie and Tuffy Heath, both of whom were devoted to this Riggins community, as Alita is to hers.

The Salmon River Senior Citizens are planning some fund-raisers this summer to help with funding the Salmon River Transit Bus. The first 50/50 Bingo along with desserts for sale will be held in the upstairs of the Riggins Community Center Friday, July 8, 6:30 p.m., for ages 18 and older. If anyone would like to donate Bingo prizes, call Cory at 628-3344 or Diane at 628-4106…they will pick them up.

Charlie Shepherd coached the West Idaho All-State Players to another victory last weekend! West Idaho 30, East Idaho 6. Congratulations to Coach Shepherd and his football team.

Dr. Jeppe, Chiropractor, of McCall Chiropractic has opened an office in Riggins on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. He is located in the front office at the Riggins Motel. Call 634-8271 for an appointment; Walk-ins welcome.

Hot Summer Nights will be rockin’ and rollin’ Friday and Saturday, July 22-23 in the Riggins City Park. Anyone wanting to be in the Famous Talent Show needs to contact Tracey Bird or Linnaea Hinton at Main Street Hair, 628-3350.

The SRHS class of ‘66 is going to have its 50-year reunion during Hot Summer Nights weekend, July 22 and 23. June Whitten is the contact person. It’s always a fun time when old friends gather.
