— ELK CITY — I am sure most of you in town are aware of the meeting on Thursday, March 10, and are planning on attending. The meeting will be at noon at the school. The following agencies have been invited but I don’t know if a representative from all of them will show up: BLM, Forest Service, County Commissioners, ITD personnel, ICSO, and Bureau of Homeland Security. I sure hope they come prepared with solid information on plans, time lines, etc.!

The condition of the bypass road remains in flux as the weather throws different things at us.

The frustration level in town is growing as there has been and still is an information black hole from the powers that be. I know this meeting should solve that problem but going three weeks without much flow of information has been very maddening to say the least. Posting important information on Facebook doesn’t work for everyone. There are many people who won’t use it even if they have a computer.

Here’s the latest photo I took of the slide on Sunday, March 6.

Remember Daylight Savings times takes place on March 13 – set clocks ahead on hour.

Don’t forget the community Easter dinner is in the works for Easter Sunday, March 27, from 3-5 p.m. at the VFW Hall.

Meetings: American Legion on March 9; Elk City Area Alliance, on March 14 at the Forest Service at 7 p.m.; Idaho Food Bank is scheduled for March 15 but doubt that they will be able to come in.

Birthdays: Lacey Chaffee, Peter Cox and Jessi Hutchinson.

History: The next on the list is Garret Dove born in 1846; died 1909 of TB. James Esh who was born in 1917 and died in 1926. At one time there was a headstone for him but none could be found by the late 1990s. The Esh family was a prominent family up here for several years. I have photos of some of them on display at the hotel. Maxwell Felts, born 1888, died 1932. Anna Foss, born 1862, died 1930. The old Foss house is up towards the top of Main Street. Roscoe Foss, born 1848, died 1938. Roy Foss is also buried there but no information has been found as to dates of birth and death. Walter Foss died in 1934 but no birth date. He was the son of Roy Foss.
