— Patrons just said “no” in the Tuesday, March 8, levy vote.

Kamiah Joint School District 304 patrons voted down the one-year $133,350 school plant facilities reserve fund levy that was meant to be used solely to replace a leaking roof at Kamiah Middle School.

Kamiah’s levy needed a 55 percent approval rate to pass. It received 382 yes and 372 no votes for a total of 754 votes cast. The levy failed with only a 50.7 percent approval rate.

Of the 1,928 total registered voters in Lewis County, 785 voted, for a turnout of 39.25 percent.

Results are unofficial until canvassed by the Lewis County commissioners, who have 10 days from the election to do so.

How we voted by precinct:

Idaho County precinct votes total: 187 yes, 227 no; East Kamiah: 38 yes, 30 no; West Kamiah: 157 yes, 115 no; Votes cast: 382 yes plus 372 no for a 754 total.
