Benefit set for March 12; for GEMS teachers

GRANGEVILLE — A benefit spaghetti feed for Grangeville Elementary Middle School teachers Debbie Lusby and Dixie Schwartz is set for Saturday, March 12, at the GEMS cafeteria from 4:30-7 p.m. The proceeds will be split evenly to help cover medical expenses. Anyone wanting to donate or help can contact GEMS and ask for Audrey Wasem or Amanda Bush.

SMC Mardi Gras is Saturday

COTTONWOOD — St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation will hold its annual Mardi Gras fund-raising event Saturday, March 12, at the Cottonwood Community Hall. Tickets are $35 each and are available at SMH or by calling Natalie Latimer at 962-2463.

Idaho County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner set for March 12

GREENCREEK — The annual Idaho County Republican Central Committee Lincoln Day Dinner will be Saturday, March 12, at the Greencreek Community Hall.

Event begins with 5 p.m. social hour and silent auction, dinner at 6 and presentations at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Trevor Loudon. He is from New Zealand and the author of a series of books entitled “The Enemy Within”.

Event cost is couples, $45; singles, $25; younger than 18, $15. Call Patricia Menough, secretary, 983-4392.

Pleasant View Baptist sets activities

WHITE BIRD — Pleasant View Baptist Church will host men’s breakfast this second Saturday of the month, March 12, at 7 a.m. Breakfast is free of charge and open to all White Bird area men.

Ladies Bible Study will also meet at PVBC this coming Saturday, 9:30-11 a.m., March 12. This session will feature the second series of Priscilla Shirer, who will be the featured speaker later this spring, Saturday, April 23, when PVBC hosts her simulcast.

Plan ahead for Easter sunrise service at 7 p.m. at the Battlefield overlook. Breakfast will be served at Pleasant View Baptist Church immediately following the sunrise service and morning worship will be held at 9 a.m. rather than the usual 10 a.m. time.

Be sure to set your clocks one hour ahead this coming Saturday evening.

God’s Girls to meet at Nazarene church March 12

GRANGEVILLE — God’s Girls, a women’s ministry group at the Grangeville Church of the Nazarene, will meet this Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The church is located at 515 W. N. 2nd Street. All women are welcome.

The event is a potluck brunch and will include fellowship and a craft. For details call Amber at 507-1596.

IDFY to host open mic night

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville High School’s IDFY (Idaho Drug Free Youth) will host an open mic night at the GHS library Friday, March 18, 7 p.m.

Students are invited to share in any [appropriate] way they wish: through song, poem, thoughts, an article or idea. Talk to advisor Mrs. Finnegan for details.

McColloch named to CU dean’s list

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Kentucky — The academic honors’ dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester for Campbellsville University was recently released.

Students honored include Ricky William McColloch, a senior, from Grangeville.

The academic honors’ list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours.

Sausage Shoot to be held this Saturday, March 12

COTTONWOOD – The Cottonwood Gun Club will host its Sausage Shoot this Saturday, March 12. The club will open at 8:30 a.m. with the shoot beginning at 9 a.m. The purchase of a $40 card guarantees a win. The kitchen will be open 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Relay for Life meeting set for March 14

GRANGEVILLE — The planning committee for the ACS Camas Prairie Relay For Life will be meeting Monday, March 14, at Aloha Laundry, 817 Cunningham, 7 p.m.

Finalizing plans for the 2016 Kickoff is the main focus as well as continuing discussion on planning the Relay for the July event. All past teams are invited and encouraged to sign up for this year’s shortened and simplified six-hour family fund-raiser for cancer research.

Clearwater Meal Center luncheon set for March 16

CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Meal Center’s next luncheon is set for Wednesday, March 16, noon. As St. Patrick’s Day is the next day, corned beef and cabbage will be served. Meals are served the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Clearwater Baptist Church. No charge for the luncheon, $5 donation appreciated when possible. All are welcome. Call 926-7776.

Youth baseball sign-ups on tap for March 16, 23

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville youth baseball sign-ups will be 3:30-5:30 p.m. on March 16 and March 23 in the art room at Grangeville Elementary Middle School. Cost per player is as follows: T-Ball (ages 4-5) is $25, coach pitch (6-7) is $30, machine pitch (8-9) is $30, Cal Ripkin (10-13) is $40 plus $10 for pants, girls fast pitch softball (10-15) is $40 plus $10 for pants. Pants fee can be waived for players who have their own, and scholarships are available for all ages upon approval of the Grangeville Youth Baseball board. All players must meet minimum age requirement before April 30. Forms can be picked up at GEMS after March 14, and forms must be turned in to league heads by April 4.

Blood drives set for Grangeville, Riggins

American Red Cross blood drives are set for this month.

In Grangeville, a drive will be held at the Armory Thursday, March 17, noon to 5:45 p.m.

In Riggins, drives will be held at Tuesday, March 29, Salmon Rapids Lodge, 1:30 to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, also at the lodge, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
