Voters in Mountain View School District 244 came out with a yes vote – just barely — in Tuesday’s March 8, $2,663,246 supplemental levy election.

Results for Kamiah Joint School District 304’s one-year $133,350 school plant facilities reserve fund levy were not available as of press time. Those funds are meant to be used solely to replace a leaking roof at Kamiah Middle School.

MVSD’s levy passed with a simple majority by a percentage of 50.5 percent, MVSD saw 1,508 yes votes to 1,480 no votes for a total of 2,988 votes cast. Voter turnout was approximately 53 percent of registered voters.

In 2015, the levy passed by 58 percent.

Kamiah’s levy needed a 55 percent approval rate to pass.

“I am really proud of those who supported our schools, kids and the future of tomorrow,” said Mountain View School District Superintendent Kent Stokes. “Thanks to out patrons for taking the time to vote.”

Results are unofficial until canvassed by the Idaho and Lewis county commissioners, who have 10 days from the election to do so.
