GRANGEVILLE Green Acres Nursery in Grangeville will host a wildfire awareness event next Wednesday, May 25, as part of a public education program sponsored by state and federal organizations.
The public event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the nursery off U.S. Highway 95. It is sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Coeur d’Alene District, in cooperation with the North Idaho Fire Prevention Cooperative.
May is Wildfire Awareness month in seven western states, including Idaho. The BLM is working to educate homeowners about how to better fireproof their homes and communities from wildfire, as well as how the public can help firefighters reduce the number of human-caused wildfires.
Wednesday’s event, free to the public, is focused on fire-tolerant landscaping and creating defensible space around homes.
