Ventenata control field tour May 26 in Kamiah

After the Fire:

— University of Idaho Extension is offering: After the Fire: Ventenata Control Field Tour in Kamiah on Thursday evening, May 26.

Wildfires can provide both risks and opportunities for weed control. Methods of control for ventenata include maintaining a healthy grass stand, prescribed burning, and use of herbicides. Last fall, after the fires around Kamiah, herbicides were applied for control of ventenata in a demonstration plot located in a pasture.

This May 26 program will provide a summary of herbicides and their effects on ventenata as well as a discussion of the specific effects observed in the demonstration plots.

The program runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; meet at the Idaho Department of Lands office parking lot in Kamiah on U.S. Highway 12 by 6 p.m. and car-pool to site. Idaho Pesticide Recertification Credits have been requested.

Cost is $10 per person. Registration and payment is required by May 24.

Mail payments to: University of Idaho Extension, 2200 Michigan Ave., Orofino, ID 83544. For information, contact the Extension office: 476-4434 or .
