Kooskia Library sets variety of events

— The Kooskia Library has a variety of events and programs scheduled.

A book sale is set for June 11, starting 8 a.m., at the Kooskia Community Center. Used books of all kinds, as well as CDs and DVDs will be available at bargain prices. Hardbacks are 50 cents, paperbacks, 25 cents. At 11a.m., the $1 bag sale starts. To donate books, drop them off at the library. No magazines. All proceeds benefit Kooskia Community Library.

The summer reading program, “On Your Mark, Get Set … Read” will be held with librarian Dena Puderbaugh for Wednesdays in June beginning at 10 a.m.

Friends of the Kooskia Community Library have adopted a section of Highway 13, MP24-26 to clean. If interested in helping, call Dena at the library or drop by to see her. This is set for Saturday, 8 a.m. on June 18.

Those who shop on Amazon are able to have Amazon donate 0.5 percent of the purchase price to Friends of the Kooskia Library Inc.

Patrons are invited to stop in and see the new computer chairs that were recently purchased with money fund-raised through book sales, donations and raffles.

‘Writers at Harriman’ student scholarships available for locals

Student scholarships are vailable for “Writers at Harriman” Friends of the Kooskia Community Library will offer two scholarships to attend this weeklong residential writing camp where students work with professional writing teachers and participate in outdoor activities with other students from Idaho.

Students who are currently enrolled in 11th and 12th grades and who attend Clearwater Valley High School as well as students who are in an alternative educational program within the Clearwater Valley school district are invited to apply. Teachers this year include Malia Collins, Megan Levad, and Nicole LeFavour of Boise and Chris Dempsey of Middleton.
