MVSD 244 gets clean audit; Hogg praised for business manager skills

— “I am telling you again – you have the best business manager in a five-county area at least,” said CPA Phil Nuxoll of Presnell Gage, PLCC, Accounting and Consulting.

Nuxoll heaped praise on Mountain View School District 244’s business manager Becky Hogg when presenting the annual audit report to the board Oct. 17.

“We’re presenting a clean audit with no adjustments for the school year ended June 30, 2016,” he said.

General fund expenditures for 2016 were $10,853,584, compared to 2015 expenses of $10,667,006, an increase of approximately 2 percent.

Property tax revenue in 2016 was $2,788,198; in 2015, $2,761,092; and in 2014, $2,786,538.

State funding brought in to the overall district budget $6,517,138 in 2016; $6,070,243 in 2015; and $5,700,139 in 2014.

Federal Forest Funds in lieu of revenue were $1,094,592 in 2016 as compared to $1,115,795 in 2015, and $1,153,274 in 2014.

The audit features several other highlights including the following:

•Enrollment numbers since 2007 are: 1,149 in 2007; 1,146 in 2008; 1,157 in 2009; 1,149 in 2010; 1,192 in 2011; 1,166 in 2012; 1,170 in 2013; 1,160 in 2014; 1,209 in 2015; and 1,224 in 2016.

•The school lunch fund reflected a loss of $11,915 in 2016 versus a loss of $19,188 in 2015.

•The district received an “LED conversion rebate” this past year (for changing outdated lighting) in the amount of $69,777.

•Federal grants were $272,282 of the general budget while state of Idaho grants made up just $33,852.
