— Be sure to plan to go to the Community Veteran’s dinner to be held Friday, Nov. 11, 5 p.m., at the VFW kitchen. The VFW Aux/Post will furnish the meat, potatoes, gravy, vegetable, and rolls. If you plan to attend, bring salads, desserts, and other side dishes. They will have Voice of Democracy, Patriot Pen presentations, and Quilts of Valor presented. Cocoa says, “Please join us and meet our local veterans and visit with them. Make it a joy filled evening.”

Meeting: American Legion on the 9th; VFW and Auxiliary on the 10th; Elk City Area Alliance on the 14th, 7 p.m., at the Forest Service meeting room; Idaho Food Bank on the 15th.

Birthdays: Tim Chaffee

History: I have an interesting document: The Idaho Bulletin of Education for July 1925, Volume XI, Number 3, “List of Selections from the Standard American Version of the Bible for the Daily Reading in the Public Schools” selected by the State Board of Education. This one is for the Fifth Grade. These were published per State Law, Chapter 35 1925 Session Laws “An Act to provide for the reading, without comment or interpretation in the Public Schools maintained and conducted by all School Districts of the State, of selections from the Standard American Version of the Bible.”
