— Praying that everyone who reads this column has a blessed Thanksgiving holiday!

The recipients of the Quilts of Valor made by the Sew Help Me Quilters at the Veterans Day dinner, as you read in this column, were Nancy Lewis Velarde and Richard Harrison.

Richard Harrison served in the Marines from 1962 to 1966. He obtained the rank of Sargent and served in Okinawa, Vietnam, and the United States.

Nancy E. Lewis Velarde obtained the rank of Sargent and was in the Army for 20 years and the Air Force for 2 years serving from 1974 to 1997 for a total of 22 years, four months and 36 days. She was on active duty in Germany in support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. She also had deployments to Korea and Honduras. Joe and Nancy moved to Elk City in June of 2004.

The Imperfect Quilters who meet on Wednesday at the VFW are taking a short break until after New Year’s. If you have any questions, call Cocoa at 842-2466.

As a reminder, the food bank is always the third Tuesday of the month by 11 a.m. This is the closest time the sponsors can come up with to assure you get food. The time varies on the truck arrival, so when it does arrive put the food out on the ground whatever the weather. If you arrive around 11 a.m., you will be assured food.

Peg Gehring will be at the Elk City Medical Clinic on Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call 962-3267 for an appointment.

Don’t forget the REACH Club and the Christmas Bazaar. Make sure you get your donations in early. Call Sue at 842-2359.

The Community Library will be closed today, the 23rd, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. You may return any books that are due that day on Monday, the 28th.

Meetings: Sew Help Me Quilters on the 29th.

Birthdays: Corina Carpentier, Aaron MacMenamin and Alyssa Stibal.

History: The sections of the Bible that were recommended were categorized under subject headings with specific verses listed, as follows: Prose & Poetry, Great Orations & Addresses, Great Prayers, Great Songs & Lyrics, Words of Wisdom, Promise, & Prophesy, The Life of Jesus, Miracles, Parables, and Letters.
