Crooked River project waste of tax dollars

Letter to the Editor

I see in a recent issue of the Idaho County Free Press where the USFS is up to the same tricks and creating their own jobs and wasting taxpayers’ money with their Crooked River project. The national debt is in the excess of $15 trillion and they are proposing to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars more on a project that makes absolutely no sense. It seems to me that the government should be trying to save money and help lower the debt instead of wasting more on a project that doesn’t need to be done.

Especially when the fish, mainly salmon and steelhead, have been swimming up that river for hundreds of years, even while the dredges were operating and apparently had no trouble. I will guarantee you, there were more fish than there is now.

I can’t even imagine what the fine would be if a private individual were to do this project due to the pollution of the river.

Yes, the U.S.F.S. is the environment’s worst enemy, no exceptions!
