Grangeville city clerk Tonya Kennedy elected association second vice president

IDAHO FALLS – Members of the Idaho City Clerks, Treasurers and Finance Officers Association (ICCTFOA) elected Grangeville City Clerk-Treasurer Tonya Kennedy as second vice president for 2016-2017 at the ICCTFOA Institute in Idaho Falls, Sept. 21-23. 

The ICCTFOA was formed to increase the professionalism of its members; improve city administration; advance the fullest measure of responsibility in local government; and to cooperate with federal, state and local agencies, the Association of Idaho Cities, Idaho universities, and other organizations to upgrade the efficiency of city government.

Translator volunteers sought by sheriff’s office

GRANGEVILLE – The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteer interpreters-translators. Those speaking Spanish are preferred, and other language offerings, as well as sign language, interpreters are welcome. ICSO will be developing a list to draw from when translator needs arise.

Volunteers will need to sign a non-disclosure confidentiality agreement.

Forest offices closed on Columbus Day; firewood permits available

Monday, Oct. 10, Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests’ offices will be closed in observance of Columbus Day. Lolo Pass Visitor Center will also be closed, and the center will transition from summer to fall/winter hours.

Local vendors assist the Forest Service in serving the public by selling firewood permits and, in some locations, forest maps: Grangeville: Tackett’s Saw Service and Rae Brothers Sporting Goods; Kamiah/Kooskia Area: Cloninger’s Harvest Foods, Tom Cat Sporting Goods, Harpster Store in Harpster.

Trunk or Treat event donations sought for Oct. 31 event

GRANGEVILLE – The annual Trunk or Treat event will be held Monday, Oct. 31, 4-6 p.m., at the Idaho County Courthouse parking lot. Candy or prize donations can be dropped off at the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.

The event is sponsored by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Grangeville City Police, Grangeville Volunteer Fire Department and the Syringa Hospital ambulance crew. This event is free to all Idaho County residents.
