HS Rodeo slated this weekend in Riggins

RIGGINS — District III High School Rodeo will go at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 and at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Riggins Rodeo grounds.

Free admission.

Fall softball clinic set

LEWISTON — A fastpitch softball hitting clinic for girls ages 7-18 interested in improving their hitting skills and gaining more confidence in the batter’s box will be held Oct. 15.

Players of all levels of experience are welcome. Cost is $45. Register and pay online at fishbackfastpitch.com.

Cottonwood night shoot starts Oct. 12

COTTONWOOD — The Cottonwood Gun Club’s annual Fall Night Shoot, a six-week shoot, is scheduled to start Oct. 12. Practice started Oct. 5. The office and kitchen opens at 6 p.m., with shooting to start at 6:30 p.m.

Teams are to be five members, $35 for sponsor fee, $35 per member.

Flamingo Fun Run set for Saturday, Oct. 8

GRANGEVILLE — The Third Annual Flamingo Fun Run is set for Saturday, Oct. 8, 9:30 a.m. The 5k run will start at the corner of State and North Street. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for those 10 and younger.

Race day registration is available that morning.

Brown in the books as IDFG adds sturgeon fishing records

Homer Brown, of Riggins, notched his third entry in IDFG’s new catch-and-release record book with a 117-inch sturgeon landed Aug. 16 in Hells Canyon.
