Toni Baker 983-7701

— October is here and with it brings the colors of fall. The leaves are turning and make for some really wonderful picture taking. You can hear some of the animals calling in the wilds…oh wait, that’s just the bugle from a hunter, hoping with all hope of bagging that big one!

With the turning of the fall colors brings the annual Halloween pumpkin contest. Mark your calendars for Oct. 29 at the IOOF Hall for lots of fun activities. There will be a costume contest (by age groups), a cakewalk, and lots of great games and prizes. Pumpkin carving/decorating contest; more information will be added as it gets closer or call Brenda Heckman.

Another function taking place at the same evening will be an open house or meet and greet to show the community what has been taking place at the White Bird Area Recreation Center. There will be an information board for all to see as to what plans they have in the making, and also what has been done so far. First, everything has to be brought up to code. Did you know this building is also rentable for your meetings, reunions or what have you. Email them at for more information.

The Old Time Fiddlers will be at Hoot’s Café Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8, all day, so stop in and listen to the fantastic music or from the sounds of it, you are welcome to join in if you want.

Reminders: Deer Creek Highway meeting will be Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. A library meeting will take place Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. Rebekahs will meet Oct. 5 and 19 at 6 p.m. both evenings. Food pickup is Thursday at noon at the recreation building. The city council meets Oct. 12 with the main topic being the update on the sewer system. This project will be starting soon.
