Alcohol suspected factor in U.S. 12 fatality accident

— Alcohol is a suspected factor in last week’s three-vehicle fatality accident at Kamiah.

Rex D. Pevehouse, 83, of Orofino, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The accident was reported last Thursday, Oct. 6, 12:43 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12, milepost 57.8, according to Idaho State Police. Pevehouse was driving a 2009 Subaru Legacy westbound when he lost control of his vehicle, which crossed left of center and struck an eastbound 1986 Ford pickup, driven by Harold A. Thomas, 88, of Kooskia. Both vehicles then spun into an eastbound 2005 International box van truck that was behind Thomas.

Thomas and his passenger, Joan B. Thomas, 87, and Crane were not injured. Of those involved, only Pevehouse was not wearing a seat belt

ISP was assisted on scene by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Transportation Department. Miles Towing and Forest Towing provided wrecker services.
