Sheriff Doug Giddings respects and supports individual rights and freedoms afforded us by the U.S. Constitution. He has served the people of Idaho County with this in the forefront.
He has gone to the federal court in Coeur d’Alene seven times to support individual citizens with their cases involving the overreach of the federal government. He has helped public land users to keep vehicle access to an otherwise closed forest road.
A few years ago he sponsored free personal defense training to the public, handgun training, through the sheriff’s department. It was well-attended by men and women, young and old, experienced and inexperienced gun owners. The training was beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Undersheriff Jim Gorges, a highly skilled certified firearms instructor, helped all students with their knowledge and skills. He was assisted by other law enforcement personnel.
Earlier this summer, my wife, along with two grandchildren, and I were confronted with a personal threat situation. Fortunately, it was diffused peacefully. Had it escalated, we each had our sheriff department training to protect our family.
People move to this county to realize American freedoms that are being infringed upon in many other areas. Sheriff Giddings protects those freedoms.
